Turkish, Egyptian Ministers Address Gaza Ceasefire
During the phone call, Hakan Fidan and Badr Abdelatty exchanged views on the ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire, as well as joint initiatives aimed at alleviating the humanitarian conditions in the conflict zone, the sources stated.
Reportedly, Hamas has shown a favorable stance toward a proposed ceasefire deal that seeks to put an end to the hostilities.
On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Cairo.
A formal statement from the Egyptian presidency emphasized that both leaders reiterated the necessity of maintaining collaborative efforts—together with the United States—"to reach an agreement that guarantees an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that allows the immediate and unhindered access to humanitarian aid, as well as the release of hostages."
Just a week earlier, Israel’s Security Cabinet gave its approval to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strategy to reoccupy Gaza entirely.
This move sparked widespread international condemnation and internal demonstrations, with critics claiming it amounted to a “death sentence” for the Israeli captives held within the territory.
Since October 2023, more than 62,000 individuals have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip following a deadly attack by Hamas on Israel, during which over 200 people were taken as hostages.
