Heavy rainfall kills three civilians in China
The downpours, which began on Monday, affected multiple banners and districts in Ordos. (A banner is a traditional administrative division similar to a county.)
Earlier in the region, a flash flood swept through a camping site in the upstream area of a river in Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur City, resulting in eight deaths and leaving four people missing.
This comes amid a series of severe weather events across northern China. Earlier this month, heavy rains and floods in Gansu province caused at least 22 fatalities and left more than two dozen people missing. In late July, torrential rainfall in Beijing led to the deaths of at least 30 people, widespread flooding, extensive infrastructure damage, and mass evacuations.
