Pelosi snaps at journalist saying ‘shut up’ on steps of Capitol
According to reports, Alison Steinberg from Lindell TV approached the former House Speaker on the Capitol steps, asking whether she was worried about the newly launched Republican investigation into the events of that day. Pelosi initially ignored the question.
When Steinberg pressed further, asking, “Why did you refuse the National Guard on January 6?” Pelosi snapped back, “Shut up!” She then pointed at the journalist and said, “I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points, as if you’re a serious journalist?” before leaving.
Democratic lawmakers have long blamed President Donald Trump for encouraging the riot, during which his supporters stormed the Capitol and temporarily halted Congress’ certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.
In response, House Republicans last month voted to form a new subcommittee to reexamine the circumstances surrounding the January 6 attack.
